24h

I started to watch 24h - I know, I'm not a first mover here... was a birthday present (yes, you missed my birthday ;).

Shocking: the show gives some price-points for violent crimes:
- blowing up a passenger plane with 200+ passengers: 1 Mio USD
- kidnapping (& potentially killing) of 2 persons: 20 K USD

Note: cheating or trying to re-negotiate the price after a done job can result in immediate uninformal death penalty.
so please, beware & behave...

Triphunter rocks right from the start... first the EM tickets for Germany games at their original price and now the Berlin Design-Hotel Art Nuveau Berlin for just 25 EUR a night. Cool! Since triphunter is closed send me or graf Gabriel a mail when you want an invite.

Today we had a b-ball session at the rote rathaus... was great fun and we have been proud to beat some local kids twice in a row - and they looked really pro and dangerous :). Thank's to everybody who participated (folks from imedo, absolventa, misterspex, iven&hillmann, lakattack)

The location in front of the rote rathaus is really amazing. we play from time to time more ore less sponanously. I twitter playdates, so subbscribe my feed (http://twitter.com/lak) if you want to be informed.

The following image shows air-iven after a shot... I'm pretty sure he consulted a lehrbuch before he came came to the court ;)

I know, I'm a lagger, just found the laughing baby:

cute! but still, why is that one of the most popular videos?
anyway, I just added a tiny bit to it's popularity with this post...

You have been wondering when we make the switch and show our new logo. Of course we would have liked to implement and put the shiny new logo on our website, instantly after the end of the OLP. However, things were different, and this may sound like an argument: It wasn’t about a “marketing stunt” - we had to take our time, since we wanted to wait until things are fine, and we are really really happy with what we developped. Which is, what we are! You will guess which draft finally made our frontpage, it is …

Hello Lovetab Poster (posted in our offices)

the LOVETAB! And I can assure you that we tested and played around with both winning concepts a lot, which means we still like Lufografs concept and maybe we will see some elements of “Playing with forms“, even if not today or tomorrow.

This is a special day. It will be remembered as the “The day when the OLP 1.6 Losers Shirt shop was finally opened to the public after only three months of waiting” by our descendants.

OLPLosersShirtShop

You´re invited to visit our chique boutique right here and get your piece of the losers pie for a laughable fee of 13 EUR.

OLP participants can even get theirs for free. Just login like you used to do in the good old days of upping logos, STRG-C (or APPLE-C for you designer folks) the coupon-code from the dashboard, paste it where it belongs to and let the magic happen.

In any case - be quick: there are only 100+1 shirts out of 140 left in our stash.

P.S. Here´s a message for all those who´re not from one of the countries we ship to from Europe: please write me an email (thu[youknowwhatbelongshere]spreadshirt[punkt]net) with your name, shipping address, sex and shirt-size and I will handle your order manually.

Sorry for any inconvience that has ocurred yesterday - it was no evil planned spamletter-campaign. It was just the forgotten mailinglist olp2007 .. and this is what happens: One sends a spam (or virus) mail to the regarding mailinglist olp2007. After this a few people complain, want to unsubscribe and respond to the sender, which is the mailinglist address olp2007. Then of course this mail is sent to all addressees again, and again some people complain and want to unsubscribe. It’s called a “mailinglist echo” and is a very oldschool web1.0 issue - the only thing you can do about it is not responding and waiting until the admins delete the mailinglist. We are very sorry for this — I still have no idea where the mailinglist address leaked but we’ve deleted the olp2007 mailaccount after we got notice (and, well, of course still around 100 mails).

But then, we also do have good news: we have a cooperation with the guys of ZEIXS! Think of an OLP for Design-Books: You submit your Shirt Design and we will print it in a book! Everyone of you who runs a Spreadshirt Shop can submit his design and it will be printed (well, if we get too many entries we have to select of course). ZEIXS already has released 4 books last year on Graphic Design, Logo, Typo, and Illustration - and is not only looking for Shirt Designs but also ie CMYK, Characters, Letterheads&Businesscards - so make sure you check the site, maybe you want to submit some of your OLP stuff, too?!

The shirts are here! I can tell you: It was never so attractive to be a loser - I could imagine that even our finalists are eager to get one of these shirts. Check them out:

Send out to start soon.

Happy happy new year, all of you!

We have two short news: First, I wanted to tell you that we get closer! In this week we did some more trying and testing - we agreed on the typo and decided between one- and two liner. Currently we work on the rearrangements of the logo for our website and business units etc. So hopefully, we can expect the new logo until beginning of february.

Second: It seems that we can start to send out the OLP Loser-Shirts in the next week. I was also told they look very chicque and it was worth waiting after all the Christmas delays. Nothing is for sure yet, and this is just what the little birdies in the trees told me, but of course we will give you an update as soon as we hold them in our hands!

In the meantime, we could share and enjoy more predictions for 2008, for example this one by iA. What is your favourite one?

Today is my last day working for Spreadshirt, hopefully I’ll write a proper long goodbye to OLP crowd post over Christmas. But for now I’d like to thank you one last time for taking part in the OLP. Its the most fun project I ever worked on and thats because you made it so entertaining. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.

Where are I going? Find out here

Its been a while now since we crowned both Lovetab and Play With the Forms champions supreme. Now that the intial shock has worn off, we (well actually Rebekka) sat down with Nicolas aka Lufograf and Kim to discuss their logos, the OLP and life since then.Come and read Nicolas’ interview in the full post. Kims we’ll blog tomorrow.

ps: Oh and one other thing, after the longest of long waits Ina just got her ISO50 prizes (we had to get them shipped via Spreadshirt and then customs jumped in both sides i’m guessing as it took forevvveeeer):

One step closer, no steps back. The ball is well and truly rolling now on the finalization of our new logo. On Monday both agencies (read about them here) submitted their initial review and developments on both Lovetab and Play With the Forms. This stage was about the agencies delivering a:

- A first reaction (what do you think, what makes the biggest impression etc)

- Usage examples (one colour, small sizes, stationary, web, marketing initiatives lets see them in action)

- Development Opportunities (break it, twist it, show how deep the logos rabbit hole goes)

The results are really promising. We’re so proud of both logos that I’m certain we’ll find ways to use them both in some capacity - marketing, special campaign etc. But only one can become our new logo, and we’d welcome your input on the agencies work and your recommendations.

Here are some highlights from the proposals, showing different usage possibilities of both logos:

And here are both pdf’s the agencies submitted. Let us know what you think.

Kocmoc.net (read Kosmos) - There’s also covers Frankensteining which wasn’t in the brief, and we’ve been pretty strongly against since the start. But its nice to see their interpretation of it.

Beau Bureau - Lovetab pdf & Play With The Forms pdf

I was impressed how well they worked when used together though. Not combined but supporting each other as in this advertising campaign proposal from Kocmoc:

So what do you think overall?

Look for an announcement of which will become our new logo soon.

Here it is. At last. The special Computer Arts Logo Edition. Inside along with about 30 pages of discussion about logo design, is the near-full page interview with Nicolas and Kim aka Lufograf and KimLarsen. When I first talked to the CA guys we never discussed that there was a logo design special planned, so I hope in some way that the interest in the OLP helped create enough interest in this topic, to result in this special.

Come read the interviews and more pics in the full post

PDF of CA feature coming later today/tomorrow. But I thought you might enjoy seeing Pablo & Laurent (aka Nelson & Laurent) enjoying their prizes (no i’m not trying to rub it in, you get a special losers shirt what more could you want?)

laurent_and_his_brand_new_camera.jpg

Laurent opted for a beautiful Leica camera, as he already had the prizes we were offering. His bathtime will never be the same again it seems.

pablo_photo.jpg

Pablo inspired by his new iPod Touch made a song for us as well. Proving his skills stretch much further than graphic design. If any of you have a rough idea how to make it sound slighty musical (I’m a little lost on this one) record it and mail me, i’ll blog it for us all to enjoy.

More prize pics coming (hopefully) from Legofish, Shahin and Inadimova :)

Have a good week, don’t work too hard.

The Losers Shirt contest was a lot of fun. Some really nice entries came in, as you probably saw as I posted them here.

Now we’ve created the final collage and it looks really great :)

There are 8 or so OLP designs that didn’t 1st place included. Mixed up with entries from the la Fraise contest in a frame provided by Lufograf.

Find out more here in the post I just wrote for the la Fraise blog. (if that link doesn’t work go here, you’ll have to scroll down a few posts)

At the moment we are working out both submissions further so that we can have a better comparison - and finally a decision about the new logo before Christmas. Since our graphic guys are busy with xmas (not only decorating the office) we decided to do this step with support of an agency.

We’ve asked a few agencies from Germany and the UK, some of them knew spreadshirt and already worked with us before, others didn’t. Here is our choice, and the title of the blogpost is right: we actually picked 2 agencies :)
